Ravintsara – The Oil that Heals
Ravintsara (Cinnamomum camphora) come from Madagascar and the natives refers to it as “the oil that heals.” The name means the “good leaf”, and it is a “universal oil” an oil like Lavender and Frankincense, which means it is great for many different ailments eg: antiseptic, immune stimulating, antibacterial, expectorant, virus and anti-infectious.
I like to use it as a replacement to eucalyptus. Its much gentler and milder than the sharp fragrance of eucalyptus, so its much nicer around the face.
I find its expectorant qualities helps to clear any mucus when I have an cold or flu.
How I use Ravintsara:
- 2-3 drops in a steam bath (to clear sinus)
- 8-10 drops diffuser (Great to diffuse at night near my bed head while I sleep)
- 1-2 drops rubbed onto the chest and up the throat
- 1-2 drop on the soles of the feet to keep my immune system stimulated
